Linda Watkins of Mazomanie

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Vermont Lutheran Church, with Rev. Barry Hoerz officiating. Inurnment will take place at Spring Valley Cemetery at a later date. A gathering with family and friends will be held after the memorial service at church. The ELLESTAD CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 1710 Center St., Black Earth, WI, is serving the family. In lieu of flowers or plants, a memorial fund will be established in Linda’s name.                          

Linda L. Watkins, age 69, of Mazomanie, WI died of ovarian cancer on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI. She was born January 1, 1949 to Harry and Edna (Punswick) Norslien. She grew up in Black Earth, WI and graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School in 1967. After high school, she briefly attended UW Madison and held various clerical jobs. For the majority of her career, she was the parish secretary for Wisconsin Heights Lutheran Parish and later for Vermont Lutheran Church, of which she was a lifelong member. She was also active in its chapter of Women of ELCA. Linda was united in marriage to Thomas J. Watkins on September 12, 1970 at Vermont Lutheran Church. She was a loving mother of two and grandmother of five. She had a love for cooking, especially for family gatherings and holidays. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, as well as antiquing. Her easygoing and caring nature never failed to make everyone feel welcome.

Survivors include her husband, Tom; her children, Jenny (Chad) Lindley of Mt. Horeb; David (Valerie) Watkins of Mazomanie; grandchildren Eliza, Garrison, and Clara Lindley and Nissa and Kaia Watkins; sister, Virginia Hillebrand of Mt. Horeb; sister-in-law, Mary Schimmele of Montana; her lifelong friend, Donna Mickelson of California; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harald and Dennis Norslien; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Hillebrand.
